i just don’t learn from mistakes!!!

.

Groupon is a dirty word.
My first encounter of it was when Val decided that our online scrap booking store – Scrap-n-Crop.com – would be featured. The outcome was a disaster … for me at least. We sold 1 scrapbook kit every 1 min 28 secs plus minus a few seconds. We had to order more stuff in to fulfill the orders that took months to clear my patio, car porch, attic, tea room and craft room of the merchandise in boxes that seems to take on an acidic stanch as days goes by …
Put it simply: it was a bleak moment in my live … as far as I’m concern.
In the excitement of it all {an a momentary lapse of intelligence}, I subscribed to the Groupon Newsletter … big mistake! siren bells begun to ring two weeks into the subscription and the spams I was receiving daily but yet, I thought that a bit of variation to the junk mail I receive daily on viagra, penis extension, “I won one million pounds”, and countless of travel related deals, would be nice. Hence, for that lame reason I did not unsubscribed the Groupon newsletter after we were done with our own Scrap-n-Crop.com deal.
Mistake! big mistake!
I eventually slipped into the cracks between the dark spaces one fine day and bought the photo book offer. Now that I think back, it couldn’t have been a fine day as I bought not one, but TWO deals thinking that April 2012 is a far far way off and I would create the photo bookS when I am in between jobs.
Yes, “in between jobs” … if I may berrate a bit about it.

This “in between jobs” ambition is a curious one.

It’s similar to the “after the BIG exams” ambition I had during my schooling days.

Naturally when the “after the BIG exams” or “in between jobs” came about, I become totally directionless, goal-less, lost and naturally depressed … turning into one big sluggish python refusing to leave the warms and comfort of my bed.

And when I did eventually abandon the horizontal posture of eternal preference, often not at the urging of my mother but a loud voice that treathens to shatter the roof into crashing pieces above me with: PENNY!!!WAKEUPNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I successfully idle the entire day away doing almost nothing {unless you count eBay pixel “shopping” as a productive activity ever since I got myself my very own credit cards!}

So, in the midst of desperation, and not knowing really what to put in the photo book … note: I have almost no photos of myself, family photos, pet photos, or friends photos …or friends I’d like to keep … or just plain friends, frankly, I quickly put this together – quickly not in the literal sense but figuratively.

Excerpts of my photo book proof titled: “INDIA IN FOCUS | VOL. 1 – KULLU VALLEY, HIMACHAL PRADESH” featuring 6 stories / issues in the region.

Oh to inject a bit of humour and personalisation {read: a very effective response to mom’s “cheh, all pictures of strangers and animals only … waste time/money“}, I had included ‘behind-the-scene’ photos of my mother who had followed me on my photo-journeys …

.
bummer … one more book to go!!!
April is just around the corner … I am under immense pressure.

I seriously need to learn from mistakes.

  1. @foto.grapher – thanks!@phil – I like these better as I had more emotional bonding and engagement with the people. I spent more time and lived their lives than the monks. The monks are 'fun' in other surprising and experiential way … like getting kissed for example! or meeting the senior "abbot" which SEA-ans purportedly queue for 6 years to meet and some pay 100K minimum for a private sitting.Well, the monks are more commercial – my photos I mean – more were published. Of course all pro bono lah…I don't think anyone will pay for my shots!:)

  2. OYE!!!!:pAsk pinkfairies.I am nice and reasonable.Just high standards on quality and values. If you pass those and manage those, we rock man.Ask pinkfairies.BTW, that's the whole problem with "GOOD"GOOD is the enemy of GREAT {Jim Collins, Good to Great}:)

  3. By the way, if all fails be a photographer. You have the eye. What are you not good at?Even making others insecure, you have mustered. Not sure if we would make great friends if we worked together!lolBen

  4. @KC – they determine the list price (which is bollocks!!!) and they also determine the % sharing and number of items up (this they gave in when our orders hit the roof – they didn't expect scrapbooking to do well – their first experience)In any case, am keeping this short and less blogging coz I got that damn photo book to complete!
