pHaque socialpreneur iconLiterally crying over the yellowing pages of the scrapbook we had made of my severely brain injured nephew, my sister and I discovered what acid-free craft supplies meant the hard way. Unable to source them locally, we formed a collective buying group in 2005 which has grown to be Asia’s largest not-for-profit online scrapbooking store.

Other than changing the landscape and “recruiting” more scrap-addicts by offering fair priced supplies, we have supported and encouraged many homemakers in establishing their own small businesses. Staffed by volunteers and a handful of family and friends of brain injured children around Asia, Scrap-n-Crop.com‘s public profile has kept our phones and emails busy by enabling families with special needs kids to contact us easily for emotional support and care giving advice.

With this growing strength to strength, I have dabbled with other ideas in the areas of green tech/ renewable energy and IT solutions {99.99% failures with the remaining 0.01% near failure}. Not one who learns quickly from mistakes, I am still on the lookout for any hair brain ideas …

{p}Haque Vagabond

I’ve lived, studied {and unfortunately paid personal taxes} in 3 continents, and travelled to circa 50 countries {and counting inaccurately}.

Starting off as an obsessive passport stamp collector, I evolved rather quickly to a festival chaser with a thirst for documenting endangered cultures. The latter have brought me to some obscure places on earth where I frequently find myself lying wide awake listening to the creepy night sounds and wondering what I was smoking whilst planning for the trip!

A recent solo traveler, my past travel mishaps with my silly klutzy self, my not-so-great relationships with my geek-y gadgets and my sometimes acerbic pontification of new coordinates, gastronomical challenges and characters can be found at Travel G-spots; a travel blog {not travel guide} whose origins in itself is “interesting”!

“G” in the G-spots stands for Great to {arr}GGGGGGaaaaAAAAAAHHHHHhhhhhh

pHaque foto iconI won’t even say I’m a self taught photographer

The word ‘photographer’ does not pass my state of consciousness.
Oh no… you don’t get it… I honestly just try to arrange things in a really teeny weeny window reflected by a mirror and depress the button.
And hey, presto!  if I’m blessed by the Heavenly Gods who cast me a glance for just that one-in-a-thousandth of a second, you get to view the elaborate arrangement of coloured pixels in a rectangle.

It’s just that simple. One frame at a time. Take it as I like it… covering issues that has touched me.

Interestingly though, some others who seems to have more faith in me, have published and exhibited my body of work globally. And some others continue to solicit my services … maybe it’s coz I’m really blessed good, maybe it’s the pro bono factor!

If you’re seriously looking for a ‘photographer’ to cover your issues, please contact me HERE . Also if you’d like to publish them on your personal {i.e. not for profit} blog, please give credit where it’s due and link back to my blog. For other forms of publications, kindly drop me a courtesy note for approval. I say yes 99.9999999% of the time anyways.

{p}.Haque has had the good fortune of having  Ami Vitale, Tewfic-El Sawy,  Dar Yasin … and few others who rather not be named critique her work.

professionally { yes, that’s when adulthood = bills + taxes }

I’m a failed writer. A failed illustrator. A law school dropout and I literally ran away from my first cadaver …

I can’t act to save my life, and I didn’t even make the cut for another installment on those who-the-heck-watches morning breakfast show slots.

That said, I’ve been said to change and shape organisations’ cultures by challenging norms with innovative ideas and strategies.

With experiences in start-ups and organisations undergoing transformations, my expertise have included Organisational Design & Development, Rewards, Service Quality, Business Process Re-engineering and Corporate Planning {business transformation and pre- and post-mergers & acquisitions due diligence and integration}.

My passion however lies in cross-generation Communication and savvy Rewards scheme designs that drives desired outcomes. As such I enjoy being the funky one sitting amongst my actuaries colleagues in a leading global consulting company that improves organisations performance through effective people, risk and financial management, headquartered in New York for 2.5 years before moving back to the corporate world with real rewards and benefits {age it getting on and who can blame a girl for retirement planning?}.

Organisations that engages me, humours my need to travel extensively, take time off to raised millions for NGOs in Asia through photo-documentary projects, and manage my co-founded Asia’s largest not-for profit online scrapbooking store.

These organisations recognises that my love for humanity, adventure and exposure have brought rich and different perspective into my life and work. Paired with persistence and an analytical mind, I have garnered numerous prestigious accolades and awards. Amongst them in my professional capacity includes two Best Employers in Malaysia, Best Employers in APAC awards, year-on-year Graduate Choice Employers recognitions and ServQual 2011.

I’m available for speaking engagements on topics relating to socialpreneurship, online business + marketing, RoH {return on happiness} @ the workplace, Flexible Benefits and communicating employee rewards to cross-generational employees.
